What to expect on a scholar-led Umrah journey

For a first Umrah, or for a return journey you want to perform with more understanding, travelling alongside a scholar changes the experience entirely. You are not simply visiting the two Holy Cities; you are being taught within them.

Learning as you travel

Each group is led by a scholar who teaches the fiqh of Umrah before you enter the state of Ihram, then continues with daily reminders throughout the trip. Questions that usually go unanswered — about Tawaf, Sa'i, the boundaries of Ihram, or what to say at each station — are answered by someone walking the same path beside you.

A typical day

• Fajr in the Haram, followed by a short halaqa.
• Rest, then a guided session on the day's theme.
• Guided Ziyarah in the afternoon: the historic sites of Makkah, or in Madinah, Masjid Quba, Uhud and Masjid al-Qiblatayn.
• Maghrib and Isha in the Haram, with time for personal worship and dua.

Umrah rituals, performed with guidance

Your scholar walks you through Ihram and Talbiyah, Tawaf around the Ka'bah, prayer at Maqam Ibrahim, Sa'i between Safa and Marwah, and finally Halq or Taqsir. Nothing is rushed and nothing is left unclear.
